Our fabulous North Dakota APPAC Ambyre Robidoux took the time to tell us about herself and why she chooses APPA:
I’m Ambyre! I’m a mom to soon to be 5 children! My husband and I have been married for 10 years. I suffered PPP with my 2nd baby and looked everywhere for a natural way to help. I ran into placenta encapsulation, and because nobody in my area offered it, I did it myself. I saw such a huge difference that I had to become certified and offer this to my community. I’m excited to keep learning and to keep meeting new people. I aspire to someday be a midwife.
Tell us about your practice; where you’re located, some stats, etc. Tell us how your practice has changed or grown since joining APPA. Share some of your successes.
My business is still growing and I’m still trying to get the word out that I’m here! I serve mostly Dickinson, but will travel to Bismarck, Mandan, Watford City, and Williston upon request.
Why did you choose to renew your APPAC?
Continuing to have access to all the research and data helps me better absorb the information. It also helps me when I need to confirm something for a client. Because this industry is changing constantly, I love how the portals are updated regularly as times change. I don’t serve many people, but certification is important for myself and my clients.
In what way has being an APPAC/being part of APPA benefited you as a placenta prep provider?
I feel that I am better equipped to answer questions with knowledge and not just with my personal experience.
Do you have any advice for those interested in becoming a placenta prep provider?
Even when times are super slow, don’t give up! Ask questions and strive to keep learning, even if you feel you’ve learned everything already.
Why did you choose APPA as your certifying organization?
It appealed to me in a way other organizations did not. The courses and material seemed very thorough.
What did you like the most about APPA?
I loved that there were message boards and that students and graduates and mentors all came together to answer questions and help each other out.
How has this training changed your practice or added to your knowledge?
I came into APPA just knowing that it helped me. I’ve walked away with a wealth of knowledge and understanding of just what the placenta is and can be. I knew practically nothing, and now I know the anatomy and how the placenta works.
