Training FAQs

“I was trained with ****, but took the full program with APPA because I don’t feel like my previous training was thorough enough. APPA was so much better. Having access to mentors as a part of the training rather than at an extra cost as well as having the material so well organized made a huge difference. I had not received adequate training on sanitation with my previous training, and I was unknowingly not sanitizing my equipment according to standards.” -APPA Graduate
“APPA made my practice safer, more efficient and more professional in every way.”-APPA Graduate
“I started my training with APPA with very little knowledge about placentas or encapsulation. I ended my training confident in my abilities to appropriately and safely process placentas. I approached my first placenta confidently and I know that that placenta was processed just as well and with the same respect as my 100th and 1000th placentas will be.” -APPA Graduate

What’s the training like?

We offer six self-paced training modules through an online platform similar to what many universities and colleges are now using. You will have a year to complete your coursework and the freedom to work on your training on your own schedule. While each module is different, some may contain videos, demonstrations, multimedia, discussion, as well as reading. Each module has several tasks for you to complete. Each task will not only help you understand the concepts but will support you with many crucial building blocks to your new business.

Are there any additional expenses?

  • During the course, you will encounter two books of required reading. You will need to either purchase or borrow these books.
    • Placenta: The Gift of Life
    • Placenta the Forgotten Chakra
  • Our Bloodborne Pathogens/ Food Safety course is greatly integrated to reflect APPA Standards and the process of placenta preparation. However, the course is maintained by a third party. Payment is made directly to that course provider and holds a one-year expiration.
  • If you are just starting out your placenta arts business you will need to purchase your equipment and supplies. We will go over these items in great detail in our training content.
  • If you are an experienced provider you may need to purchase some new equipment or supplies that align with APPA’s safety and standards.

Can anyone take this course, anywhere?

Yes! APPA is international and meets the needs of all experience levels. APPA is unique in that it’s advanced enough to meet the needs of even the most experienced professionals while attending to the more basic needs of someone who’s never even touched a placenta.

Does APPA have restrictions on preparation location or method?

APPA has no restrictions on prep location in terms of preparing in the client’s kitchen vs. the specialist’s workspace. You can learn more about APPA’s stance of prep location here. At APPA professional autonomy is very important. We feel the best decisions are made when you, the professional, have complete information. We provide comprehensive information on all food-safe methods and an extensive database of local laws pertaining to most areas. This allows you to tailor your practice to you and your client’s needs and desires.

What about Stem Cell Therapies?

Stem Cell Therapy is a highly regulated medical procedure that is outside the scope of practice for placenta encapsulation specialists. APPA does not support placenta consumption for anyone other than the birthing person or for the purpose of stem cell therapies.
