Amy generously shared more about herself and told us about her experience with APPA certification…
Biography
I was born and raised on the beaches of California and I now call Northern Virginia home. I am a mother to 4 fun loving children who teach me daily about the important things in life. I enjoy reading (one can never have too many books!), charming coffee shops, dark chocolate anything, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
I have been a birth and postpartum doula for 5 years now, and have served over 100 families. It is my passion to compassionate, educated, respectful, high quality care to women and their families. I want your baby’s birth day and the period after to be some of the best times of your life!

I am a certified birth and postpartum doula who serves the Northern Virginia and Washington DC. I have been a doula for 5 years and have supported over 100 families to date. I have been trained and providing Placenta Encapsulation for the last several years as well, but am proud to now be certified by APPA, the nations top certification agency for placenta arts and remedies.
Why did you choose APPA as your certifying organization?
APPA is known for being the gold standard in training for Placenta Encapsulation. I knew that their specialists were always on top of the latest research, followed rigorous safety measures, and were highly professional. I wanted to be a part of this organization!
What did you like the most about APPA?
They had gathered so much scientific research and information on the subject of Placenta Encapsulation and placentophagy, that most of society has never heard of. I feel thoroughly educated now on the subject!
How has this training changed your practice or added to your knowledge?
I have now implemented new and improved safety standards and quality measures to my practice based upon what I learned through my APPA training. This will benefit the families I serve and help to keep them safe and healthy.
