Another amazing woman has graduated from the APPA certification program, we’re proud to present – Kristina Garcia!
We asked Kristina to tell us a bit about herself and her birth work and tell us more about why she wanted to train through APPA, here’s what she shared with us:
My name is Kristina. I’m a mom to 4 mini people and an angel in heaven, 2 dogs, and 2 rabbits. I am married to my best friend and biggest fan, Jonathan (Jon). He describes me as energetic, quirky and knowledgeable about birth and car seats.
I’m really passionate about my family and both my businesses, I’m a Photographer as well. I enjoy running my own businesses that allow me to have the flexibility to stay home and homeschool my kids.
On my downtime; you can find me hanging out at home with my family, online shopping with a cup of coffee in hand or at church.

I am a birth doula and motherhood photographer, KG Maternity and Birth Photography. I also volunteer as a car seat technician for preventinjury.org and am a volunteer blog writer for Breastfeeding World.
Tell us about your practice; where you’re located, some stats, etc. Tell us how your practice has changed or grown since joining APPA. Share some of your successes.
I started my practice shortly after the birth of my second child. I have experienced a wide variety of birth events, including trauma and loss within my own motherhood journey. My desire to be a doula was first ignited during my pregnancy with my first daughter. It was after this birth that I decided to pursue and increase my knowledge of birthing practices
In what way has being an APPAC/being part of APPA benefited you as a placenta prep provider?
I am able to really communicate why placenta encapsulation can be beneficial for a postpartum mom.
Do you have any advice for those interested in becoming a placenta prep provider?
If you are looking for a program that covers all aspects of encapsulation from historical evidence and research to high safety standards APPA is the program for you!
Why did you choose APPA as your certifying organization?
I chose to certify with APPA because I liked how in depth their program is and because it allowed me to study from home.
What did you like the most about APPA?
The research and traditions module, I’m a research nut and love knowing the history behind things so these two modules pulled my heartstrings and fed my fire to learn!
How has this training changed your practice or added to your knowledge?
It’s made me appreciate proper training so much more.
The childbearing families of Indianapolis are so fortunate to have Kristina serving them!
