Another one of APPA’s brilliant graduates is here to tell us all about herself! Meet Katrina Hartman:
Biography
I am a wife and mother of two small children, living in Rhode Island, and I have a deep passion for birth. After a traumatic birth with my first, I vowed to not have the same outcome with my second. I researched all I could on natural birth, which lead me to placenta encapsulation. After reading just a few testimonials from other mothers, I knew it was an avenue I wanted to pursue, so I found a doula in my area and paid her happily. After the healing, natural birth of my son, I patiently waited for my doula to come process it, eager to see in better detail the organ that kept my boy company for 9 long months. I wasn’t sure what to expect, I had declined to see my daughter’s placenta (although my husband asked if I was going to eat it). When she finally opened the tub, my breath caught in my chest; my placenta was the most beautiful thing I had ever laid eyes on (minus my husband and children). It was perfectly round, with an almost perfect ‘Tree of Life’ in it’s center. At that moment, I knew this was something I *NEEDED* to be a part of for other women. Every placenta that I’ve had the honor of working with, has been a blessing, not only for me as an encapsulation specialist, but for the mother who now gets to consume their magic. Every placenta is magical, and my dream is to see a time when every woman knows it.
