Another amazing APPAC, Jane Stanley, has renewed here certification. Jane serves the Perth area of Australia.
Jane was born and bred in the north of England and her passion for “all things birth” began when she home-birthed her two daughters in 1995 and 1998. Over the next few years she and her family moved to Texas, USA and whilst raising her two girls, she studied with DONA International to become a certified Birth Doula. Whilst working as a private Doula, she was also involved with a Teen Pregnancy Support Program and provided Childbirth Education, Birth and Postnatal support to many teenage mothers in a socio-economically deprived area.
Jane and her family moved to Western Australia in 2006 where she continued supporting birthing women and their families, ultimately being awarded a Fellowship by DONA International and studying with Penny Simkin, Michel Odent and Phyliss and Marshall Klauss, and certifying as a DONA Birth Doula Trainer.
Since 2007, Jane has been involved with the education of many families in her role of Childbirth Educator with The Bump WA (formerly Community Midwifery WA) and Administrator of the Community Midwifery Program.
A natural progression into placenta encapsulation evolved in 2012 with her initial placenta encapsulation training. She chose to advance her placenta encapsulation skills and knowledge by studying and certifying with the Association of Placenta Preparation Arts (APPA); the “gold standard” training organisation in placenta preparation, and is extremely proud to be one of a very small number of placenta encapsulators in Australia with the high level of skills and training that APPA provides.
She is fully insured to provide her placenta encapsulation service and maintains her Bloodborne Pathogen and Food Safety Supervisor qualifications on an annual basis as part of her role. She is also a certified member of The International Institute of Complimentary Therapists, and is proud to be a verified member and committee member of Placenta Services Australia.
Jane lives on acreage in the beautiful hills of Perth, surrounded by Mother Nature! She has a dedicated, stand-alone placenta encapsulation workshop and she services all hospitals in the North, East and Central areas of the city and can often accommodate placenta collections further afield in more remote areas.
She provides encapsulation, placenta prints, placenta tinctures, vial keepsakes and umbilical cord keepsakes and to date has provided her service to over 500 new mothers.
We asked Jane about her decision to renew and she graciously shared the following with us:
Why did you choose to renew your APPAC?
It’s very important to me that I offer the best service and highest standard of practice to my clients. That is what APPA provides; exceptional, thorough training and information that is kept up to date.
In what way has being an APPAC/being part of APPA benefited you as a placenta prep provider?
It helps me to maintain my high standards of practice, keeps me up to date on changes in the placenta prep world and demonstrates to potential clients that when choosing an APPAC they are in safe hands.
Do you have any advice for those interested in becoming a placenta prep provider?
Yes, train with APPA!
Why did you choose APPA as your certifying organization?
Thorough, in depth and professional training
Great peer support
The best training there is!
What did you like the most about APPA?
The in depth and detailed training and requirement for continuing education and maintenance of standards.
How has this training changed your practice or added to your knowledge?
In many ways. My placenta knowledge and particularly safety and sanitation knowledge have grown since undertaking the APPA training. Other care providers seem to appreciate the amount of training that APPAC’s have done which in turn creates more trust in the process of placenta prep.
Jane looks forward to hearing from you!
